We are very excited to announce our Fall 2021 Remodeler’s Showcase home!

This elegant home in Edina had been rebuilt in the early 1990’s with some very nice features in the kitchen – a painted tray ceiling with large molding, a built-in bookshelf & large Sub-Zero refrigerator. Although the kitchen was spacious, the oversized island dominated the space and wasn’t fully functional for the homeowners. They were looking for an updated layout that retained the home’s elegant charm that they first fell in love with.

Before

Previously, the refrigerator felt very heavy and the island dominated the space. The structure of the space was great, but it needed a little tweaking to make it go from ordinary to extraordinary.

By moving the large Sub-Zero refrigerator to an adjacent wall, we were able to utilize the back wall for large, statement hood and Wolf range top for a more dramatic focal point. Glass front cabinets on either side of the decorative hood allow the homeowner to display pretty dishware and accessories. A much more proportional island was also designed into the space but still allowed for seating. Timeless white inset cabinets blended with dark soapstone countertops allow this space to remain bright and airy while adding a touch of contrast and overall interest. A white marble backsplash featuring a delicate rug pattern behind the range top add to the style and elegance of the space while the medium toned wood flooring adds warmth. The homeowner insisted on keeping the existing tray ceiling featuring a hand-painted cloud mural as she said she gets so many compliments on it. Other areas of this space feature a built-in bookshelf and new desk area that seamlessly blend in with the rest of the kitchen.

From top of the line appliances to the farmhouse sink, this kitchen was elevated to the level of home it resides in and provides an excellent space for the homeowners to entertain friends and family for many years to come.
