Go for Gold, Stay for the Blue

Maple Grove, MN
Create a space that feels like a whimsical, elegant forest retreat, playful enough to charm a child, yet refined enough to suit adult tastes.

Before the remodel, this hall bathroom was dated, inefficient, and lacking the storage and functionality the homeowner needed. The single-sink vanity left precious counter space underutilized, while a basic fiberglass tub/shower combo felt cramped and uninspired. Despite having a large skylight flooding the room with natural light, the space lacked personality.

Our design goals were clear: create a more energy-efficient bathroom with spray foam insulation, add a second sink, incorporate more storage, and bring in the homeowner’s love of blue while keeping the space warm and inviting. The reimagined layout features a striking navy double vanity from Crystal Cabinet Works, topped with White Cloud polished quartz, and a tall storage tower between sinks to keep essentials organized. A showstopping Marmaris Sunset hex tile in the shower ties in soft blue veining, while matching brushed brass Kohler fixtures add warmth and consistency throughout.

Pull visual cues from the clients' floral kitchen wallpaper, colorful home, and backyard garden.
Special attention was given to Minnesota’s cold winters by strategically placing the shower niche within an insulated interior wall to keep toiletries from freezing. Every detail, from the hex floor tile to the coordinated gold hardware, was chosen to elevate the space while maintaining function for daily use.
