These homeowners loved their home’s location, neighbors, and footprint but the outdated home was in need of a refresh.
We undertook a transformative journey, turning their first floor into an entertainer’s haven with a stunning kitchen, a chic dining room, an enchanting powder bath, and a practical mudroom.
Transforming your dining room into an Award-winning Scandifornian chic space is a thrilling design venture. This style seamlessly blends Scandinavian and Californian design elements, incorporating natural materials, color, and clean lines. The goal is to create a modern, organized, and visually pleasing dining room, with functional storage, glassware and dish display, and charging stations for electronic devices.
This project embraced a Scandifornian style, opened up the layout, infused vibrant hues, and optimized storage for a light-filled home tailored to entertaining and family living.
Addressing the challenges of fitting cabinetry into existing spaces and working around HVAC vents, the design solutions were carefully tailored to meet these needs. A mix of wood and white cabinetry adds visual interest, while base cabinets with roll-out shelves and wider drawers maximize storage and functionality. Pantry cabinets with deep drawers offer ample space for storing linens, and green zellige-style subway tiles in a herringbone pattern add color and texture to the space.
The addition of clear glass doors provides a stylish display area for dishes and glassware, while a docking station in the pantry caters to charging needs. Quartz countertops were chosen for their long-term durability and minimal maintenance, ensuring the serving area is functional and elegant. By widening doorways to better connect the dining room with the rest of the first floor, the room now exudes chic organization, reflecting the homeowners’ Scandifornian design aesthetic. No longer a forgotten space reserved for special occasions, the dining room has been transformed into a bright, inviting area used daily by a vibrant, young family.
