The homeowners chose Crystal Cabinets in a white traditional style, with a brown highlight for the perimeter to add more character to cabinet doors and drawer faces. The island was updated to a rich brown walnut, welcoming contrast into the space. High end finishes add a touch of luxury to the kitchen with beautiful Cambria Hampshire countertops and sleek Kitchen Aid and Wolf appliances. Throughout the kitchen, the light maple millwork was painted white to match the cabinets and bring the space out of the 1980s.
The unused and messy built-in desk was updated to a dry bar with a warm walnut countertop and large subway tile backsplash. Additional cabinets with glass doors and shelving were added to display the homeowners’ favorite vacation memorabilia.
The upper mezzanine level was a blank canvas and ready to be turned into a multipurpose space. The owner does part time consulting in his retirement, so he wanted a functional desk with plenty of storage. He also enjoys assembling robotic Lego cars and trucks, with a large table as a workbench and many lite floating shelves for display, this became a perfect place to work on his hobby (bonus it doesn’t have to be put away to use the space for other things.)
The laundry room used gray laminate cabinets and marble laminate countertops. The upgraded washer and dryer were placed on pedestals for a better work height and extra storage. Johnson pulled the upper cabinets forward to the front of the washer and dryer to eliminate trouble reaching into the cabinets.
